Dr Hugh Williams joins the Centre for Business Analytics

Melbourne Business School is delighted to welcome global technology leader Dr Hugh Williams to the Centre for Business Analytics as a Distinguished Fellow.

Since leaving his home town of Melbourne for Silicon Valley over 10 years ago, Dr Williams has served in senior roles at eBay, Microsoft, Tinder, Pivotal and most recently as VP of Engineering and Product at Google, which saw him lead Google Maps worldwide.

Prior to moving to Silicon Valley, Dr Williams was an Associate Professor in Information Retrieval at RMIT University and CEO of his own start-up. He has a PhD in Computer Science, published over 70 papers with over 25 patents (and more than 25 pending), and won prizes for his teaching.

Dr Williams is best known for his work on search engines and for inventing infinite scroll. For the Melbourne music buffs among us, he was the original drummer in the 1990s band Snout.

Now back in Melbourne, Dr Williams sits on the Board of ASX-listed Redbubble and advises Doordash (US), Canva (Sydney) and Photobox (UK). He will teach into our School’s Executive Education programs and provide strategic advice to the Centre of Business Analytics.
